For people who love history and want the big picture
All of history,
all at once.
School taught history one country at a time. One gold line sweeps through 5,000 years and lights up everything alive in that year, everywhere.
History was taught to us one country at a time.
Dates in a list, chapter by chapter. Rome, then Egypt, then the Tudors, and you never saw that they overlapped with Maya cities, Chinese dynasties and African empires. So nothing connected, and most of it didn't stick. Historient puts the whole world on one line.
Drag the gold line to any year and every region lights up at once, or let a little gold star walk you through it, one short tour at a time.
In a month you'll know what was happening everywhere, in any year you name.
Drag one line. See the whole world.
Time runs left to right and the world's regions are rows. Wherever the gold line stops, everything alive in that year lights up, from Europe to East Asia to the Americas.
- 3500 BCE to today, nine world regions
- BCE/CE or BC/AD, your choice
A little guide who knows the way.
Pick one of 139 tours. The timeline glides to each stop, the moment glows gold, and your guide tells a short story as if you were standing there. About a minute a stop.
- World History in 10 ages, plus 108 stories
- “Meanwhile…” tours: one year, all around the world
- “Life in…” tours: Rome, Athens, Edo Japan, Jazz Age New York
Tap anything. Get the story.
Every bar on the timeline opens a quick look: who, where, when, and one plain line on why it matters. Want more? Open the full story with key moments, myth vs truth and a map.
- 22,000 moments, people and empires
- 7,400+ rulers and 3,600+ historic places
Every crown has a family.
Follow kings and queens through their parents, marriages and children, and see who came next. 41,000 people in family trees and royal houses, all placed in their time.
- Royal houses from the Tudors to the Tokugawa
- Type an ancestor's birth year and see their world
Finish a tour.
Bring something home.
Every tour wins your guide the outfit of someone you met on the way, and a real museum treasure for your collection.
No streaks.
Come back tomorrow, next month or next year. Your guide keeps your place.
No quizzes.
No tests and no scores. Just stories, told as if you were standing there.
No ads.
No leaderboards and nothing for sale. Nothing between you and 5,000 years.
Why I made Historient
I'm Jacqueline. At school I learned history one country at a time, and I never knew what the rest of the world was doing. So I built the timeline I always wanted: every region side by side, a gold line you can drag, and a little star to walk you through it.
I wanted learning history to feel joyful, never like homework. No streaks, no quizzes, no guilt. Just stories.

Good to know
Do I need to download an app?
No. Historient runs in your browser on any phone, tablet or computer. On a phone you can add it to your Home Screen so it opens like an app.
Which plan should I pick?
Most people pick 3 months. 1 year has the lowest price per day. Every plan includes all of Historient: the full timeline, all 139 guided tours, family trees and your own log.
What happens after the intro price?
Your first payment is discounted. After the intro period your plan renews at its full price (1 month $23.30, 3 months $49.27, 1 year $101.40) until you cancel. You can cancel anytime.
What if it's not for me?
Every plan comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Email us within 30 days for a full refund.
Is there a free version?
No. Historient is one paid app with no ads, so there's nothing to upsell and nothing in the way. The 30-day guarantee means you can still change your mind.
Can I give it as a gift?
Yes. Choose “Give a year” and we'll email you a gift card for one year of Historient ($67, paid once, nothing renews) to send or print.
Where does the history come from?
Dates, rulers and family links come from Wikidata. Pictures are paintings and photos from Wikimedia Commons and open museum collections such as the Met. Every entry has a short story in plain English and a line on why we remember it.
Is it good for kids?
Yes. Everything is written in plain, family-friendly words, and a tour stop takes about a minute, short enough for a lesson or a bedtime story.

Your guide is ready
when you are.
5,000 years. The whole world. One gold line.
