Terms of Use
Effective 27 October 2026.
These terms are an agreement between you and Historient LLC (“we”, “us”) about using Historient at historient.com and its apps (the “service”). By signing in or continuing you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy.
The service
Historient is an interactive history timeline for learning and enjoying history. We may add, change or remove features, and some features may be only for certain plans or testers.
Your account
- You must be 13 or over (or have a parent or guardian set up and manage the account).
- Give us a real email address and keep your login private. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has got in.
Acceptable use
Please do not: break or probe the service, guess other people’s passwords, use bots or scrapers to copy the content, share your login or invite link widely, upload anything unlawful or that you do not have the right to share, or use the service to harass anyone. We may suspend or close accounts that do.
Content, pictures and credits
- The Historient app, its text, design and original artwork belong to Historient LLC or our licensors. You may use them for your own personal, non-commercial learning.
- Many pictures come from Wikimedia Commons, Wikipedia and public museum and library collections, under their own licences (such as Creative Commons or public domain). Their authors and licences are listed on the Picture credits page, and the licence of each picture applies to that picture.
- Some paintings in the app are AI-generated illustrations. They are imagined scenes, not photographs or historical records.
- History is complicated. We work hard to be accurate but cannot promise every date or detail is right. Tell us at [email protected] if you spot a mistake.
- What you add (your log, notes, photos) stays yours. You give us permission to store and display it back to you to run the service.
Payments
If you buy a subscription or other paid feature, the price, billing period and renewal terms will be shown before you pay. Payments will be handled by a payment provider, and we will not see your full card details. Unless the law says otherwise or we say so at purchase, fees are non-refundable. You can cancel any time to stop future charges. Consumer rights you have under your local law are not affected.
No warranty
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise it will always work, be error-free or be uninterrupted, and we are not responsible for third-party sites that supply pictures.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of data or profit, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you for anything connected with the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or, if you paid nothing, to zero). Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
Ending things
You can stop using Historient at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we stop offering the service.
Changes
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app or by email. Using the service after a change means you accept it.
Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where Historient LLC is organized, and the courts there will handle any dispute, though local consumer-protection rules where you live still apply to you. Contact: Historient LLC, [email protected].
